Big Congrats to SuperFlex Team member and Leander Paes and partner Martina Hingis for winning the 2015 US Open Mixed Doubles Championship! It’s been an truly amazing season for the champs after claiming their 3rd Grandslam Championship of the 2015 season. The win yesterday follows their Wimbledon and Australian Open crowns. Leander and Martina have proven to be the most dominating mixed doubles team in the 45 years that the event has been played. Their 9th win breaks the record for most ever Grandslam mixed doubles championship wins.
Leander had some great things to say about Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Sam Querrey. Paes said, “Sam has a monster of a serve and they’re a really strong team with a lot of fire in them and battled all the way to end. “ Leander goes on to say, “Bethanie hit 3 shots down the line past me to break our serve in the second set. I’ve never seen a female player hit three shots like that. Sam was serving bombs and Bettanie just started firing up and hit 3 amazing shots by me. Too good, she’s a hell of a ball player. “
Leander travels exclusively with his SuperFlex bands using them daily on the court or in the gym. Leander following the final, “I’ve been using my bands every single day before practice and every match. We (Sanjay Singh – Paes physiotherapist) use the bands for lower and upper body training and do a lot of stability work with the bands. Stability work helps me focus on the core structure, which allows me to maintain flexibility in my low back. I do a lot of yoga work with the bands also because it adds in a lot of resistance with the stretch.”
